Green House in the Snow
A key direction we would like to go in the very near future is to construct a geo-thermally heated and cooled greenhouse which will enable growing organic vegetables and fruits year round.
Our mentor in this venture is Russ Finch of Alliance Nebraska www.greenhouseinthesnow.com
He has demonstrated for decades that he can grow non-traditional crops like oranges, grapes and figs that are of excellent quality and quantity throughout the frigid winter weather of the Plains. He claims that his oranges are larger, juicier and tastier than those grown in Florida. It has something to do with the latitude of his area and the quality of light.Crag Moor Farm is located at similar latitude so I believe we will be successful too.
